SafeAir CM (GP) Gas Proving and Ventilation Interlocking with Built-in Current Monitoring

The SafeAir CM GP offers a simple single panel package for ventilation interlocking and gas proving for a commercial kitchen to aid sites in meeting BS6173:2020 and IGEM/UP19.

SafeAir CM

The SafeAir CM (GP) is a ventilation interlock and gas proving system for commercial kitchens.

Ventilation Interlock

Interlocking can be achieved with either airflow switches or the built-in two channel current monitor. The built in current monitor can be “learnt” with minimum and maximum fan current loads, each current monitor has a sensitivity range of 30 milliamps to 20 amps (max).

It is a requirement (see BS 6173 & UP19) that any mechanical ventilation within a kitchen environment (supply and extract) is switched on and running before the use of any gas appliances can take place. If the ventilation is not switched on, the LCD display informs the operator of the fans that are off. It then advises to switch them on and reset the panel.

Gas Pressure Proving

Gas proving must be fitted in any commercial kitchen which has appliances fitted without flame failure devices (FFD’s). As explained further in the article
why fit gas pressure proving in a commercial kitchen?” gas proving should be considered for the long-term benefit and safety of the site when considering other gas standards and that the majority of leaks identified are before the FFD’s.

Using our patented differential pressure proving method the system checks the gas pipework and appliances in a kitchen for gas leaks. It also monitors for low pressure and overpressure without opening the solenoid valve, making it the only truly safe method of proving available.

see Why choose Medem differential pressure proving?

Gas Detection

Up to four CO2 gas detectors can be connected to the system, low level alerts will cause a audible tone and visual message on screen, high level alerts will additionally isolate the gas supply.

Medem detectors can be used to monitor the carbon dioxide level to ensure that HSE set levels are not exceeded.

Gas Valve Isolation

In the event of fan failure, a high CO2 alert or the activation of the emergency circuit the connected gas isolation valve will be closed.

All our products come with a 5-year warranty

Medem’s industry leading five-year warranty is a demonstration of the company’s confidence in the quality and design of its products.

This applies to the main panels and sender units, gas detectors carry a 2-year warranty.

Why not let us commission your system and receive a 10-year Warranty?

Where we’ve commissioned an installed system, the warranty is extended from five to ten years. At the time of commissioning, photos and gas pressure readings are recorded along with other relevant details of the installation. A 24-hour helpline number and the serial number is attached with the panel and all details are then entered on to the Medem database.

Service

Required every 12 months (or 6 months depending on gas type and environment); cost-effective yearly service plans available
