SEC-K v5 Ventilation Interlock and Gas Proving System for Commercial Kitchens

The SEC-K is a ventilation interlock and gas proving system for commercial kitchens with multiple in-built features which can be used where and when required to help sites meet BS6173:2020 & IGEM UP19.

SEC-K v5

The SEC-K v5 is a ventilation interlock and gas proving system for commercial kitchens with optional electrical control.

Gas Pressure Proving

Gas proving must be fitted in any commercial kitchen which has appliances fitted without flame failure devices (FFD’s). As explained further in the article
why fit gas pressure proving in a commercial kitchen?” gas proving should be considered for the long-term benefit and safety of the site when considering other gas standards and that the majority of leaks identified are before the FFD’s.

Using our patented differential pressure proving method the system checks the gas pipework and appliances in a kitchen for gas leaks. It also monitors for low pressure and overpressure without opening the solenoid valve, making it the only truly safe method of proving available.

“Out of hours” monitoring and ventilation control

The SEC-K v5 system can monitor for carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) out-of-hours so even when the panel is switched off an alarm can be raised, or ventilation switched on. This provides additional safety monitoring particularly if solid fuel appliances are installed within the kitchen.

Gas Detection

Up to 16 gas detectors can be connected to the system, low level alerts will cause a audible tone and visual message on screen, high level alerts will additionally isolate the gas supply.

Gas detectors commonly include:

Remote Indications

All system states and alerts can be remotely monitored and indicated via our “”BMS” relays. There are five potential free relays each of which can configured separately.

  • Gas Pressure Proving
  • Ventilation Interlock
  • Gas detection (1-16 detectors)
  • Electrical isolation
  • Carbon Dioxide Level Monitoring
  • Carbon Monoxide Detection
  • Demand Controlled Ventilation
  • Event log
  • Fire Test Isolation Control Built-in
  • Out-of-hours CO Monitoring and Alarm
  • Fire Test Isolation Mode
  • Low and high incoming gas pressure monitoring alerts
  • Engineer Functions

The panel can monitor up to 6 detectors directly and up to 16 when installed with an AD-PP power pack. The current range is:

All our products come with a 5-year warranty

Medem’s industry leading five-year warranty is a demonstration of the company’s confidence in the quality and design of its products.

This applies to the main panels and sender units, gas detectors carry a 2-year warranty.

Why not let us commission your system and receive a 10-year Warranty?

Where we’ve commissioned an installed system, the warranty is extended from five to ten years. At the time of commissioning, photos and gas pressure readings are recorded along with other relevant details of the installation. A 24-hour helpline number and the serial number is attached with the panel and all details are then entered on to the Medem database.

Service

The panel and sensors must be re-commissioned and tested every 12 months as a minimum but with consideration of every 6 months dependent on gas type and environment. Medem offers cost-effective yearly service plan options which include detector exchange
