SEC-L v5 Gas Proving and Interlock System for Laboratory Service Control

The SEC-L is a multi-function solution designed for the laboratory.

The SEC-L v5 is a gas pressure proving and gas detection system with options for electric and water isolation plus ventilation interlocking.

Providing the operator individual control of the gas, water and bench electric supplies. The system will perform a down stream integrity check ensuring gas tightness before use, close the gas solenoid valve in the event of a high-level gas alarm, low incoming gas pressure or if the emergency stop/fire alarm is activated.

It is designed for use primarily in education laboratories.

Gas Pressure Proving

Using our patented differential pressure proving method the system checks the gas pipework and outlets in a classroom for gas leaks. Able to test a variety of gas delivery lines including oxygen up to 10bar It also monitors for low pressure and overpressure without opening the solenoid valve, making it the only truly safe method of proving available.

Gas Detection

Up to 16 gas detectors can be connected to the system, low level alerts will cause a audible tone and visual message on screen, high level alerts will additionally isolate the gas supply.

For Carbon monoxide, the system can monitor the CO2 levels and temperature to control area ventilation in the laboratory when fitted with appropriate sensors.

Where the CO2 level rises above prescribed limits, the system can isolate a gas supply to help meet the updated BB101 and IGEM/UP11, edition 3. The limit is variable to accommodate for current legislation and guidance.

Remote Indications

All system states and alerts can be remotely monitored and indicated via our “BMS” relays. There are five potential free relays each of which can configured separately.

  • Gas Pressure Proving
  • Gas detection (1-16 detectors)
  • Electrical & Water Isolation
  • Fan interlocking
  • Carbon Dioxide Level Monitoring
  • Demand Controlled Ventilation
  • Auto restart on power failure
  • Event log
  • Auto restart on fire alarm
  • Fire test isolation mode
  • Two settable SELV relays
  • Low and high incoming gas pressure monitoring alerts
  • Engineer functions
  • Over Pressure Alert

The panel can monitor up to 6 detectors directly and up to 16 when installed with an AD-PP power pack. The current range is:

All our products come with a 5-year warranty

Medem’s industry leading five-year warranty is a demonstration of the company’s confidence in the quality and design of its products.

This applies to the main panels and sender units, gas detectors carry a 2-year warranty.

Why not let us commission your system and receive a 10-year Warranty?

Where we’ve commissioned an installed system, the warranty is extended from five to ten years. At the time of commissioning, photos and gas pressure readings are recorded along with other relevant details of the installation. A 24-hour helpline number and the serial number is attached with the panel and all details are then entered on to the Medem database.

Service

The panel and sensors must be re-commissioned and tested every 12 months as a minimum but with consideration of every 6 months dependant on gas type and environment. Medem offers cost-effective yearly service plan options which include detector exchange to assist in service budgeting.
